Another Harbinger is missing.
The False Moon Heretic, Dottore, is a weekly boss in Genshin Impact . The boss appeared at the end of the Nod End storyline, although he previously participated in Archon quests in Sumeru. He gained unusual abilities that distort space and time, and this is factored into the boss fight’s gameplay. In this guide, we’ll explain how to unlock and defeat Dottore, as well as the best teamwork for the False Moon Heretic.
How to unlock Dottore the Heretic of the False Moon
Players who haven’t completed the storyline can quickly start the boss fight. Go to the Traveler’s Journal, go to the “Dungeons” tab, select “Punishment Dungeons,” and begin the battle. Co-op combat will be unavailable in this case.

If you’ve completed the Nod-End story quests, the False Moon Institute dungeon will open in the far north of the country.
How to defeat the False Moon Heretic
The boss only has one phase, but he makes up for it with a variety of moves. At the start of the battle, the game will prompt you to seek cover behind the Ashes of the Ancient Moon—three columns falling onto the field. Stand in the blue-highlighted area to protect yourself from a devastating attack.

Another unusual mechanic is the penalty for trespassing. While you see the blue orb in his hands, you can’t move until the orb evaporates.

From time to time, you’ll need to enter a space with shadows. To defeat them, approach the red gap and press “Enter.”

Inside, you need to defeat three shadow copies of Luna to return to the arena. Alternatively, run toward the red beam of light, but then the boss will become stronger.

The direction of perception is reversed—this is control inversion. That is, to move left, you press the “Right” button, to move forward, you press the “Back” button, and so on.

And the easiest thing is to not look the Doctor in the face. Just go behind him.

In addition to these attacks, Dottore uses time rewind in battle to restore some of his health. His standard attacks include:
- Electro-beams that cut across the area. Try to avoid them.
- Hydro Rain. The drops aren’t particularly dangerous, but when it shoots them upward and unleashes one large, concentrated blast of water, it’s best to escape the area.
Commands for Dottore
The Doctor’s mechanics are designed to build up a lot of resistance when he takes a strong hit. Therefore, characters capable of dealing high damage with their ultimate (Mavuika, Hu Tao, Tartaglia, Arlecchino, etc.) are not suitable for this fight. Pyro damage dealers are also unsuitable, as the boss has high resistance to this element.
Examples of squads:
- Nefer, Lauma, Columbine, healer
- Fleance, Ineffa, Columbine, Sucrose
- Nevillet, Lauma, Columbine, healer
- Al-Haytham, Raiden, Ye Lan, Shinobu
- Itto, Goro, Albedo/Chiori, Zhong Li
- Navia, Tiori, Furina, Charlotte
- Zi Bai, Illugi, Columbine, Goro (if there is a constellation for healing)/another healer
- Clorinda, Ineffa, Columbine, Sucrose
- Varesa, Ineffa, Columbine, Cocomi
- Skirk (no ult), Furina, Shen He, Escoffier
- Ayaka, Ye Lan, Sucrose, Kokomi
- Gan Yu, Furina, Charlotte, Zhong Li
- Chaska, any characters except Pyro
- Wanderer, Faruzan, Bennett, Zhong Li
You can also take Dehue for interrupt resistance, Bennett for buff and healing, Toma for shield – as long as the characters do not contribute a significant portion of damage.
Achievement Don’t Test God

During the battle, you need to break any of the rules – look at the face, move, etc., to get the achievement “Don’t Test a God.”
